La Lumière et le Spectre Électromagnetique

What do all of these questions have in common?

Have you ever thought about how we see?
How did colours come to be?
How is it possible that you can see the bone structure of your body or microwave a hot chocolate?

Well guess what mes choublablas, if you guessed that they all have to do with light...by George, you are GENIUS!

First thing you need to know...

Light waves transmit energy by two means:
Mechanical (such as the wind and slinky)
  1. Mechanical Waves are waves that move through a material medium (solid, liquid, or gas) at a speed which depends on the medium ie: water

  2. There are two basic types of wave motion for mechanical waves
  3. Longitudinal waves (think of a Slinky when you push it towards a partner who is holding it on the other side)

  4. and transverse waves

and electromagnetic waves which is Light (among other things)...Crazy right?

Task:
The next activity is a pre-assessement for Tuesday class. The more you understand about Light and the Electromagnetic Spectrum, the easier the lesson will be!

You will need access your devices in order to complete the questions/activities below.

Start here on this website: Light and Electromagnetic Waves

Questions are here:Question Sheet

In your own words, IN FRENCH, tell me which light source you want to have as a superpower(superpouvoir) in paragraph form. You have to tell me what the light does (gamma rays are used for…), how you will use it, and if you will be good or evil ;)

Because you love songs so much, here is something special. You're welcome.

Due for Tuesday May 12th.
